CURATORIAL ASSISTANT, ASIAN ART – Full Time
The Santa Barbara Museum of Art, a leading West Coast art museum, presents internationally-recognized collections and exhibitions and a broad array of cultural and educational activities. The Museum seeks a Curatorial Assistant to provide general administrative, clerical and curatorial assistance to the Elizabeth Atkins Curator of Asian Art. Duties include providing assistance in research and cataloguing of the permanent collection acquisitions, assigned projects, and assisting with exhibition preparation (preparing checklists, press copy and other publicity materials, assisting in research, proofing materials for exhibitions and maintaining files). Also provides clerical assistance with departmental tasks, including telephone inquiries, correspondence, and serving as liaison with other Museum departments, visitors and patrons
Requires excellent organizational abilities, general knowledge of art history including Asian art history, strong research skills and demonstrated writing capabilities. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Photoshop; knowledge of collection database software, basic graphic design skills, and image scanning are desirable. Excellent proofreading skills, thoroughness and attention to detail are essential. BA in Art or Art History required; MA is desirable.

Schedule: 40 hours per week
Compensation: $17.00/hour
